The House Appropriations Committee on Jan. 31 reviewed language associated with a $10,000,000 appropriation for Department of Corrections facility work and added oversight and accountability requirements. The committee said applicants must include a plan that achieves sustainability to be eligible for funds.
Trevor (staff) checked the language with the Department of Corrections and reported the agency was "fine with that," according to the transcript. Members said they wanted assurance that organizations seeking funds would demonstrate sustainability and that the Agency of Human Services supported the accountability language.
The committee kept the appropriation language in the BAA while clarifying eligibility and oversight expectations so that recipients would have to show a sustainability plan to apply for funds.
