The Buena Vista Board of Trustees approved two airport-related resolutions and adopted a consent agenda containing multiple administrative items during its Jan. 28 meeting.
Trustees approved Resolution No. 8 (series 2025) to transfer the town's FAA entitlement for the fiscal year to Holyoke Municipal Airport so that the entitlement funds can be pooled among regional airports for larger projects. The transfer was approved by roll call; all trustees voting recorded affirmative votes.
Trustees also approved Resolution No. 9 (series 2025), authorizing staff to apply for and accept FAA construction grant funding for an airport project. The resolution authorizes the town to pursue FAA and related state matching funds for the construction phase of the airport project; the board approved the application by roll call vote.
Earlier, the board adopted the consent agenda by voice vote. The consent agenda included minutes from previous meetings, quarterly financial reports, multiple advisory-board appointments and a resolution appointing Carly Smith to the Chaffee County Multi-Jurisdictional Housing Authority. The consent agenda packet also included reappointments to the tree board (Roy Gertzen, Caleb Efta and Andy Gordon) and an appointment of Alex Bruce as a regular voting member and Mallory Brooks as an alternate member.
Trustees also took a short administrative action to swear in newly appointed trustee Chris Sturm and introduced Anita Rote as the new full-time code-enforcement officer who will provide weekend coverage once training is complete.
The airfield funding resolutions are part of routine airport grant management: town staff said the FAA entitlement and discretionary grant processes allow municipalities to apply for federal funds to support airfield construction and improvements; the town will provide a modest matching share included in the adopted 2025 budget.
