Committee authorizes $15,800 contract amendment for Lockwood Drive seawall survey requested by U.S. Coast Guard

The Public Works Utilities Committee approved a contract amendment authorizing the mayor to execute a $15,800 change order with JMT for additional surveying related to the Lockwood Drive seawall project.
Josh Martin, a city staff member presenting the item, said the U.S. Coast Guard requested additional survey information to study potential wave and water impacts to their facility as part of the seawall construction work. The $15,800 amendment to JMT's existing contract will fund the requested work, Martin said.
A council member asked whether the extra surveying would slow the project's design. Martin responded, "It will not impact the schedule." The motion to approve the amendment was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
The amendment covers only the additional survey work requested by the Coast Guard; Martin said the survey will supply information the Coast Guard needs to complete its own study related to the facility.
