Council continues hearing on Treetop Inc. proposal for 5 Bennett Street to Feb. 4; attorney says revised plans coming

Attorney James Giuliano told the council that Treetop Inc. has revised designs that shrink the proposed footprint and will submit plans in advance of the Feb. 4 meeting. The public hearing was continued to Feb. 4.
The council continued a public hearing on a special-permit application from Treetop Inc. that would raise and rebuild a preexisting nonconforming four-family dwelling at 5 Bennett Street.
Attorney James Giuliano, appearing for the applicant, told the council he has renderings under development and that the project team had reduced the proposed footprint. Giuliano said the existing building’s footprint is about 23,100 square feet and that the new proposal would reduce that to roughly 2,000 square feet (figures presented by the attorney at the hearing). He added the developer is proposing three-bedroom units and that the design team expects to circulate plans to the planning, engineering and public works departments, neighbors and the council in advance of the next hearing.
After the presentation the council opened the public hearing and, with no members of the public speaking, voted to continue the hearing to the council’s Feb. 4 regular meeting. The council’s action was taken by roll call and the continuation passed.
Giuliano told the council he expects final plans shortly and asked that the matter be scheduled at the February meeting to allow review by staff and neighbors prior to a new public hearing sequence.
