Council committee recommends Alexander Rozicky for city engineer following interview

The personnel committee interviewed Alexander Rozicky for the vacant City Engineer position and voted to recommend him to the full City Council for appointment.

Rozicky (who introduced himself as currently serving as assistant town engineer in Reading) described seven years of municipal experience and prior private consulting work. He highlighted experience managing stormwater and green infrastructure projects, including a constructed stormwater wetland that secured MVP grant funding and federal earmarks in his previous town. Rozicky said he has experience working with regional partners, MassDOT/MPO processes and third‑party peer reviews.

Councilors asked about the scale of Woburn projects, public outreach, budget defense and handling high-volume permit and construction workloads. Rozicky said he would prioritize shadowing the incumbent (if available), learning the capital plan and site visits as initial steps, and would rely on consultants for complex design work while serving as the public face for projects. Committee members praised his experience and recommendations were made to bring the nomination to the full council for a formal vote next Tuesday.

The committee voted to recommend Rozicky; the full City Council will hold the appointment vote at its next meeting.
