The Auburn School Committee voted Wednesday to continue participation in the state's School Choice program for Auburn High School and Auburn Middle School.
Superintendent Dr. Chamberlain said school choice has been an important budget offset for the district and brings additional families to district schools. The motion approved continuation at the two schools; the district will return in March with the exact number of open School Choice slots after demographic review.
Committee members expressed support, noting positive social and instructional effects when students form continuing peer relationships through choice placements. The motion to continue the program carried on a voice vote.
