A community member told the Saint Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee that existing monofilament fishing-line receptacles at the Blossom Heath pier and behind City Hall are full and called for more containers to be made and placed at high-use sites.
The speaker said she and her husband started the receptacle project several years ago and that some containers have been used up; she suggested a school group could assemble cylinder-style containers to be installed at Chapitaine and other park locations. "There are receptacles to put your used fishing line on the pier behind Blossom Heath. And also, there are some behind City Hall... But we have used all of the containers that we have, so this would be a great project for a school group," the speaker said.
Committee members noted the idea and encouraged school or volunteer participation to fabricate and install more cylinders; they also suggested coordinating placement with park staff.
