The El Dorado City Commission on Jan. 21 voted to approve an ordinance amending Title 4 of the El Dorado Municipal Code to align local rules with recent changes in Kansas alcohol control law.
City staff explained the change was largely ministerial: the state modified rules about extended Sunday sales and the ordinance updates the municipal code so city regulations match the state’s provisions. “When we were looking at doing that, we realized that there were a couple others that have been updated since as well,” a city staff member said.
Commissioner discussion was brief. A motion to approve the ordinance was moved and seconded, and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The ordinance text was not read in full during the meeting; staff offered to answer specific questions and said the changes were intended to match state law and remove local inconsistencies.
