Martin County seeks artists for public art, highlights centennial events and upcoming county gatherings

Martin County’s communications team highlighted several community arts and centennial items during a recent summary of the Board of County Commissioners meeting, including calls for artists, a centennial events calendar and upcoming county gatherings.
County hosts said the Martin County Centennial has a website with news and events and that the centennial logo was designed by a local student. The county also listed several events: an illustrated-history program at the Hoag Library in Jensen Beach on Feb. 1 from 2 to 3 p.m.; Music at the Mansion on Feb. 2 from 2 to 6 p.m.; Arts Fest on Feb. 8–9; and the State of the County address on Feb. 20 at New Hope Church in Palm City.
County staff and the communications podcast also announced opportunities for local artists. The Arts Fest team is seeking artists to create a mural imagining Martin County 100 years from now. Separately, the county’s Art in Public Places program posted a solicitation for proposals for a mosaic mural and wayfinding signage for Manatee Pocket, Mooringfield and the Upland facility.
