Sequoia Volunteer Fire Department to use $313,556.33 in insurance proceeds to rebuild Station 2, county says

The commission reviewed a resolution to accept insurance proceeds for damage to Sequoia Volunteer Fire Department Station No. 2 and to appropriate those proceeds to construct another building.
Chief (present) said a vehicle drove through the station and destroyed it. The county received insurance proceeds of $313,556.33, which the chief said the fire department will use to build a replacement bay. The chief described the planned structure as a metal (Butler) building with a concrete floor to house equipment; permitting remains to be completed. Chief said the department would not come back to the commission for assistance and that plans and funding were in place.
Commissioner Helm asked whether the insurance proceeds would cover reconstruction costs; the chief said they would not be seeking additional assistance from the commission. Commissioners also noted progress by other volunteer departments on medical service restorations and building projects.
