House honors William 'Billy' Fallon and Bryce Johnson, observes moment of silence for Washington crash victims and welcomes visiting delegations

Representative Chaz Cannon rose to honor the life and public service of William “Billy” Fallon and asked the chamber to join in a moment of silence. Representative Cannon said Fallon, who died Jan. 4 at age 92, served in the Georgia House from 1967 to 1970, practiced law for six decades and served in other civic and state roles; Leah Fallon, one of his children, was in the gallery.
The House also rose to honor Bryce Allen Johnson, the Tifton Judicial Circuit district attorney who died Dec. 2, 2024. A resolution read on the floor recounted Mr. Johnson’s service as district attorney, his community involvement and his family ties; members asked the family to stand and the chamber observed a moment of silence.
In the afternoon, Representative Lauren McDonald led the chamber in a remembrance for victims of a crash he said occurred "at approximately 21:100 hours" near Reagan National Airport involving American Airlines Flight 5342 and a United States Army Black Hawk helicopter; the House paused for a moment of silence for those affected and for first responders. The remarks acknowledged members who were in Washington, D.C., and thanked emergency personnel working on recovery and identification.
Representative Kimberly New welcomed CSG South, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that serves 15 southern states and provides policy research and leadership development; the session’s guests from CSG South were introduced by name and the chamber heard that the Southern Legislative Conference will be in Birmingham, Ala., July 19–23. The chamber also welcomed Douglas County Chief Superior Court Judge Cynthia Adams and members of the Georgia Dental Association, and recognized a leadership delegation from Newton County and a youth group, Showtime Pros, which was invited for a reception after the session.
