Lisonbee said the district corrected a clerical error in an initial draft, shifted an October early‑release parent‑conference day to a date that creates a three‑day weekend for families, and proposed moving a full PD day to the Monday after February vacation to take advantage of refreshed staff and extended family travel windows. She said the "base model" ends the school year on June 16 if there are no snow days; with five snow days the final day would extend into the following week.
The administration analyzed attendance patterns for days adjacent to vacations and identified January 2 in the current year as having a notable absence spike (about 12% student absences). Lisonbee said "educationally if you ask me what I think is the strongest it's probably option 2," referring to the draft that retains the December days and shifts January 2 to extend the vacation on the January side.
Committee members discussed timing, clerical corrections and public-notice timelines. The committee agreed to study all three drafts, solicit public comment and vote at a subsequent meeting; the committee asked administrators to post the drafts and return with any necessary clarifications prior to the vote.
