Selectmen: fire station bids look favorable; budget work steps up and house-numbering policy draft planned

"Those do look very favorable," the meeting chair said, describing the initial appearance of the bids while noting that the bids remain under review and the town will perform due diligence before recommending a contract to the project committee.
Board members also said the town will begin the municipal budget process in earnest after the release of Governor Healy’s budget. Officials said they will meet with school officials within the next week to review likely school budget requests. The chair identified insurance costs and school budgeting as likely budget pressures for the coming year.
The board discussed a house-numbering policy. Selectmen said voters at last fall’s town meeting approved a bylaw change that allows the board to adopt a formal policy for house-number assignment and renumbering for safety or request-based reasons. Town staff said a draft policy will be brought to the board next month for review and public comment.
