Danvers residents urge Select Board to act on Beverly Airport representation, environmental concerns

Mark (last name not provided), a Danvers resident, told the board he drafted a proposed proclamation about current and future developments at Beverly Airport and has submitted it to the Select Board chairman. He said the town's seat on the Beverly Airport Commission has been vacant for more than four months after a resignation and that airport actions are proceeding "without representation." He said residents have repeatedly raised concerns about noise, air, water and hazardous contaminants originating at the airport and asked the board to take a formal stance.
"Action of the commission are proceeding without representation," Mark said. He urged the board to defend affected residents and to act on the previously requested proclamation.
Select Board members and staff responded that the town manager had forwarded Mark's email to town counsel and to the appropriate official for review. At least one resident asked the board to consider negotiating for additional commissioner seats to ensure Danvers has representation on airport decisions.
The Select Board did not take formal action at the meeting but staff said they would follow up with counsel and report back to the board.
