Select Board adds two-year unexpired Parks Commission seat to April ballot after resignation

The Select Board voted on Jan. 27 to revise the list of positions to appear on the April 7, 2025 annual town election ballot after receiving a resignation letter from Mike Smith, chair of the Parks Commission. Smith’s letter informed the board he would resign effective April 6, 2025.
Town clerk staff recommended language to add a two-year unexpired term for one Parks Commissioner to the previously approved list of available positions. The board moved, seconded and approved the amendment to the ballot listing by roll call.
Members thanked Smith for his service and discussed the parks work completed in recent years, including ARPA-funded projects and lodge renovations. The change ensures the seat will be filled by an election rather than a board appointment for the remaining term.
