Plan Commission approves site improvements, sign and setback exceptions for Taco Bell at Crossing Meadow Drive

The Plan Commission approved Jan. 28 a Planned Commercial Industrial District amendment for the Taco Bell at 1243 Crossing Meadow Drive (tax parcel 18-3300-0) to permit site updates, a new exterior walk-in box, parking-lot maintenance and several setback variances tied to an existing, legally nonconforming layout.
Carissa Jones, representing the applicant, said the project updates the building exterior, replaces walk-in refrigeration, repairs potholes, restripes parking and improves ADA accessibility. City staff noted the 1992 original approval allowed reduced setbacks; staff supported maintaining the existing parking-lot and lighting locations and the existing freestanding sign setback as legal nonconforming. Staff recommended nine conditions of approval.
Mike Milkey moved to approve the amendment with nine staff conditions; Tom Smith seconded. The motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
