West Seneca Central School District board members discussed setting a consistent set of board meeting dates for the 2025–26 year to reduce scheduling conflicts for residents, staff and community groups.
Board member Ben and several colleagues said having a “draft in place” would help community organizations — athletic departments, music programs and PTAs — plan events around the district’s meeting nights. Board members agreed a draft calendar would be circulated and reviewed by administration and department leaders. The board did not take a formal vote on meeting dates at the work session.
Superintendent: The superintendent told the board the district will still follow the policy that requires the board to formally approve the official schedule at the annual organizational meeting in July, but that a published draft would give the public and district programs “ample time” to plan around proposed blackout dates.
The board discussed possible date changes to avoid Election Day in November and to accommodate Yom Kippur and high-school graduation in June. Several members suggested moving the November meeting away from Election Day (discussion included a tentative move to the week of Nov. 11). Members also discussed shifting a June work session if graduation dates conflict.
No formal action was taken. Board members agreed to: (1) circulate the draft calendar to school administrators and activity leaders, (2) solicit conflicts or concerns over the coming weeks, and (3) present a final schedule for formal adoption at the July organizational meeting, per board policy.
