Board elects Mike Davis chair and Dana Van Horn vice chair

The Utah Board of Water Resources elected new officers at its Jan. 30 meeting. Board Member William Merkley nominated Mike Davis for board chair and Dana Van Horn for vice chair; Board Member Spencer Jones seconded the nomination. The board conducted a roll-call vote and approved the motion; members present voted unanimously in favor.
After the vote, Chair Mike Davis accepted the gavel and thanked board members and staff. Davis said he takes the position seriously, cited his public-sector background and expressed confidence in the division staff and in working with members to guide water policy and investments.
The outgoing chair, Juliette Tenert, noted she will continue to serve on the board and thanked members. Board staff confirmed that Blaine Ipsen was excused from the meeting but could join online later if his schedule permitted.
Ending: The board then proceeded to approve minutes and continue its agenda under Chair Davis.
