State snowpack below normal; staff says reservoirs are generally in reasonable shape

Officials said statewide snowpack was about 76–77% of normal at the latest look; southern Utah was substantially lower (about 26–27% of normal). Staff noted reservoirs remained “in pretty good shape” overall, although the division expected a brief warm spell before weekend mountain snow that could help recover some snowpack. The director said she had presented the preliminary statewide percentage to the Senate Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment committee the day prior and that a fuller NRCS presentation would follow.
