The Sylvania Board of Education unanimously approved a consent agenda on Jan. 27 that included an urgent-necessity resolution to begin repairs on the Arbor Hills roof, acceptance of gifts, approval of contracts for student services, overnight field trips and multiple personnel items.
The board approved the urgent-necessity resolution so district staff can begin roof repairs at Arbor Hills "ASAP," with work to start the following day, and noted the project will be completed in sections rather than all at once.
A student donation was accepted for the Southview Library: the board recognized Jordan Haley for donating a four-book series. The board also approved a contract renewal with I'm Boundless Incorporated to provide services for a student with special needs; trustees noted the district has contracted with the vendor in prior years and that the vendor's cost had decreased this term.
The board approved overnight field trips: student travel to the Ohio FFA/Skills conference in Westerville and Northview High School students attending the State Educators Rising Conference and competition in Columbus. The board also approved the 2025–2026 College Credit Plus handbook.
The remainder of the consent agenda covered routine personnel and administrative items approved on a roll-call basis, including licensed substitutes, licensed and classified retirements and resignations, lifeguard approvals, classified new hires and personal changes, activity contracts and athletic volunteer approvals.
During roll calls the board recorded affirmative votes from the trustees present and indicated that the board would move into an executive session to discuss employment matters; no action was taken after the executive session.
