Senators also introduced guests and visiting delegations. Senator Thomas and Senator Hopson introduced a delegation from Yazoo County that included county supervisors and representatives of Visit Yazoo and the Yazoo County Economic and Development Partnership. The Senate’s gallery also received members of the Magnolia State School Counselor Association and representatives of the Southern Association of College Admissions Counselors. A student visitor from Richland High School was acknowledged during introductions.
The Senate president noted the volume of legislation filed so far this session, saying about 600 bills have been filed and that roughly 100 more were expected to be assigned. Senators were urged to prepare for committee readings starting the following week.
The Senate then approved a motion to stand in recess until 5 p.m.; the president said the journal will reflect that the Senate stands adjourned until 4 p.m. on Jan. 27. No substantive policy debates or bill readings occurred in the portion of the transcript provided.
