Commission appoints two to Criminal Justice Coordinating Council; other board assignments discussed

Commissioners also reviewed several other board and committee assignments: Commissioner Kelly said he wished to remain on the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and local workforce chief‑elected board; Commissioner Reed said she wants to continue on the CJCC; other commissioners expressed interest in serving on or rotating into regional boards, including KU Innovation Park and an entrepreneurial convening called eCommunity.
The board discussed a possible joint meeting with the Eudora City Council in the coming months and asked staff to circulate calendar availability for late winter/early spring. Staff also flagged the annual township meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m. at the public works building; commissioners were asked to RSVP so staff can plan dinner.
Why it matters: The CJCC coordinates criminal justice programming and policy among local stakeholders; appointments help set membership and priorities for the year. Committee and board representation determines the county’s voice on transportation, economic development and public‑health forums.
What commissioners said: Commissioner Reed said she wants to remain on the CJCC to continue work on a recent bylaws update and a strategic planning process.
