"This is to designate a portion of I‑25 as a memorial tribute, to all of our firefighters, but in particular, to Chief Troy Jackson," Carson said on the floor. Carson also referenced the broader service of firefighters, invoking the example of the 343 firefighters who responded on Sept. 11, 2001.
The resolution names Interstate 25 southbound from mile marker 199.4 and Interstate 25 northbound from mile marker 194.8 as Firefighters Memorial Highway in memory of Chief Troy Jackson. Senate remarks noted that Chief Jackson served as a chief in the South Metro Fire District in northern Douglas County. The resolution passed the Colorado House two days earlier, as recorded on the Senate floor.
With no further discussion, the Senate adopted HJR25‑1007 by unanimous recorded vote among those present. Senator Carson requested the current roll call be added as cosponsors, and the request was entered on the record.
