City Engineer Jason Anderson presented the project as the city's annual mill-and-overlay work, estimating the listed streets at $622,200 and noting the budget for the project is $650,000. He told the council the funding for mill and overlay is levied separately from the general fund and that any unused funds could be put back into reserves or used for future overlays.
Council member Jim moved that the city bid only the recommended streets and not include alternate streets; the motion was seconded by Craig and passed. The council discussed that the PIT committee had recommended forwarding the item as originally presented (with alternates), but the council majority opted to keep the advertised bid package to the listed streets to preserve funds amid projected budget pressures.
Jason Anderson also said a bid opening was proposed for March 4 and that staff would return to council with results on March 11.
