Morton Grove resident praises local supports for adults with disabilities

During public comments at the Jan. 28 meeting, resident Roy F. Campbell described his family’s recent experience finding a community‑integrated living arrangement (CILA) for his 21‑year‑old son on the autism spectrum and praised Morton Grove services.
Campbell said his son moved into a local CILA in October 2023 and that the family has worked with village social services, the fire department and police department. Campbell noted the area’s nonprofit network and volunteer opportunities as factors that made Morton Grove and neighboring Niles “the ideal area” for his son to live and integrate into the community.
Campbell said his son volunteers with local organizations and has gained social opportunities through those groups. He told trustees he planned to bring his son to a future meeting to introduce him to the board.
