Penn State Extension to host "Bringing Nature Back" workshop; 4-H enrollment open

A Penn State Extension representative announced a March 15 workshop at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, open 4-H enrollment and other programs during public comment at the Lycoming County commissioners meeting.
Sarah Welch, client relationship manager for Penn State Extension Area 3, told the Lycoming County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 30 that the extension, Master Gardeners and partners will host Bringing Nature Back: One Yard at a Time on March 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pennsylvania College of Technology (Clump Faculty/Academic Center). The event will offer eight workshops and breakout sessions.
Welch said 4-H open enrollment is currently under way for youth ages 5 to 18; she noted a May 1 deadline to enroll for the year. She also announced that four members are attending the state leadership conference in State College this weekend, that one member (Mackenzie Taylor) will receive the Diamond Award for community service, and that another member was being inducted into the state 4-H council.
From the Food, Families, and Communities program, Welch said a new Walk by Faith program will start in February, a six- to 12-month healthy-eating and walking program developed by the Penn State Cancer Institute. She also described a free virtual "Walk Across PA" program beginning in spring; participants can form county teams.
The board offered thanks and did not take formal action on the announcement.
