The Evergreen Public Schools directorate presented the district’s annual employee compliance training on Jan. 28, explaining which trainings are required, who is responsible for monitoring completion, and how the Danielson framework fits into evaluation training.
Overview and schedule: The presenter (human resources staff) said the district requires annual SafeSchools training (delivered via Vector) with different timelines based on employee classification. Student‑facing staff are monitored by building supervisors for completion, with certificated staff expected to complete back‑to‑school slide training by Sept. 30 and classified staff by Oct. 30 or within 60 days of hire. Late hires are tracked throughout the year.
Content and coordination: Human resources staff described collaboration across departments — TLE (teaching and learning), IT, safety & security, special education and federal programs — to produce back‑to‑school slides that duplicate or supplement material covered in SafeSchools to ensure all employees receive required content. Supervisors notify HR when staff complete certificated training, and the district holds three operations meetings (fall, winter, spring) for building and district leaders; operational supervisors meet quarterly for topic‑specific training.
Evaluation and frameworks: The presenter told the board the district uses the Danielson teacher framework aligned with state law (TPEP options) and that Charlotte Danielson Group issued updated frameworks in 2022; Evergreen plans to incorporate the updated framework into next year’s training. New certificated supervisors and principals receive training on the Danielson framework and AWSP (Association of Washington School Principals) evaluation content when applicable.
Board Q&A: Director Perkins asked for a five‑sentence description of the Danielson framework; the presenter explained it is a teacher performance framework used for evaluations and training and said the district is updating its training to reflect the new Danielson materials. The board did not take action; the presentation was informational.
