Overnight field trips: The board approved four overnight field-trip requests, including travel to a national cheer competition (presented cost example $1,255 per student) and a trip to Disneyland. Staff said fundraising and donations were being used to offset costs and that sites have been asked to ensure students who cannot pay are able to attend. The board approved the requests by voice vote.
Black History Month resolution: The board unanimously adopted Resolution 2425-27 recognizing February as Black History Month and urging the district to emphasize black American history within curricula year-round. The resolution text — read during the meeting — praised black Americans’ contributions across multiple fields and directed district support for student and staff success.
Board of Education Recognition Month: The board also adopted Resolution 2425-28 to recognize January as Board of Education Recognition Month. Trustees watched a video montage of student remarks and passed the resolution by voice vote.
Other approvals: The consent calendar was approved as amended after trustees pulled contract 2425-94 for separate action (the PBIS contract). The board also approved the agenda at the start of the meeting and a series of consent items that were not debated in detail.
