Jeff Carlson, the town’s natural resources director, said the Sheep Pond area is experiencing rapid coastal change and that monitoring stations installed since December recorded recent erosion “in some spots there of up to 3 to 5 feet in the last month.” He reviewed the site history, saying seven structures have been demolished or removed since the town began close monitoring in 2014 and that a number of cabins had been relocated inland.
