Senior county counsel Rob Bouvette to leave Washington County for Lane County; resignation effective Feb. 17

Washington County Clerk Courtney told the Board of Commissioners on Jan. 14 that Senior County Counsel Rob Bouvette has resigned and will become Lane County’s county counsel. Courtney read Bouvette’s resignation letter, which set an effective last day of Monday, Feb. 17, 2025; the letter said Bouvette will begin his new position at Lane County the following day.
Why it matters: The county counsel’s office performs legal work for multiple county departments, and the departure will create a senior vacancy that the county must staff or otherwise cover.
Courtney read the letter aloud: “This letter is to inform you that I am resigning my position as senior county council with Washington County effective at the end of Monday, February 17, 2025. I begin a new position as county council for Lane County the following day.” The clerk also noted Lane County issued a press release announcing the hire.
Commissioners thanked Bouvette for his service and noted the county will begin the internal process to staff the vacancy. No formal action was recorded at the Jan. 14 work session; staff said they would follow up on staffing and transitional arrangements through the county’s normal human resources and legal office procedures.
