Umatilla County commissioners held a public hearing and completed the first reading on a proposal to increase overnight camping fees at Harris Park. Tom Fellows, building works director, presented the fee proposal and explained that the increase is intended to produce modest additional revenue to support planned maintenance and improvements. Because the camping season runs April 1 through Oct. 31, Fellows said staff wanted the change implemented in time for the upcoming season rather than waiting until the July budget change.
A public hearing was opened for comments; no substantive public testimony was recorded in the transcript. The board scheduled the second reading for the second board meeting in February (Feb. 19, 2025) to allow for any additional public comment and a final vote.
