At its Jan. 28 meeting the La Grange Park Board of Trustees approved multiple motions by unanimous vote. Key actions recorded in the meeting minutes follow.
- Ambulance purchase (consent agenda): Approved a resolution waiving competitive bidding and authorizing a contract with Foster Coach Sales Inc. for a 2025 Type 1 ambulance through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative; expenditure recorded in packet as $371,557. Vote: unanimous.
- Ratify and waive competitive process for office furniture (Motion 1): Ratified invoices to Villa Park Office Equipment for Village Hall furniture purchases and waived the competitive bidding requirement; staff said the cumulative purchases exceeded the village manager’s $20,000 authorization. Vote: unanimous.
- Additional furniture purchase (Motion 2): Waived competitive purchasing and authorized additional furniture purchases for the village manager’s office and fire department offices, not to exceed $15,000; trustees noted quotes valid through Jan. 31, 2025, and a potential 4% price increase thereafter. Vote: unanimous.
- Leak-detection services (Public Works action): Approved a waiver of competitive bidding and a not-to-exceed $35,000 contract with Associated Technical Services for leak detection and pinpointing in the water-distribution system. Background: $24,500 was budgeted in the water distribution fund; several main breaks and increased emergency work prompted the request. Vote: unanimous.
- Sidewalk grinding (Safe Step LLC change order): Approved change order No. 1 with Safe Step LLC to increase the sidewalk grinding vendor total to a not-to-exceed $24,000 (original approval $20,000; additional identified work amounted to $3,911.22). Vote: unanimous.
- Training participation agreement: Approved a resolution authorizing the La Grange Park Police and Fire Departments to participate in an active-shooter training drill hosted by Adventist Midwest Health (DBA University of Chicago Medicine AdventHealth LaGrange Hospital) on Feb. 4, 2025. Vote: unanimous.
- Tax abatements (Finance): Approved ordinances abating portions of the 2024 property tax levy for (1) the 2014 general obligation refunding bonds (sewer) and (2) the 2016 general obligation corporate purpose bonds (road and fire). Staff recommended a $120,000 abatement of the 2016 bond levy to maintain sufficient debt-service fund balance after a 5% Cook County loss factor. Vote: unanimous.
- Kimley Horn Phase 1 engineering letter agreement (Commercial Revitalization item): Approved resolution and appropriation of Market TIF funds for preliminary engineering of La Grange Road traffic-safety improvements (packet showed consultant lump-sum $331,000; a later meeting remark referenced $371,000 — staff said they would clarify). Vote: unanimous.
All motions were approved by roll call with the transcript recording unanimous votes. The meeting record contains vote tallies recorded as unanimous for each listed action; specific trustee name spellings appear variably in the transcript, so the roll-call tallies are included here as unanimous outcomes rather than reproducing inconsistent name spellings from the audio transcript.
