Superior Court returns unused judgeship setup funds to state

Cobb County Superior Court representatives said they will return money set aside for a Douglas Circuit judgeship that was not created and will back out initial setup funds for three newly created judgeships.
Judge Anne Harris of Cobb County and Charles Miller, budget director, told the subcommittee the Superior Court is returning previously allocated appropriations for a judgeship that did not materialize and is removing setup funds for other newly created judgeships.
They said the Douglas Circuit judgeship that had been allocated $218,555 was not created by the enabling bill, and the money will be ceded back. Miller said the amended requests also back out initial setup funds for newly created judgeships in At least three circuits (Atlantic, Coweta and Dougherty), each roughly $15,000, reflecting that those initial setup dollars are no longer required in the amended budget.
