Valley Stream swears in Sharon Daley as trustee, honors WinterFest sponsors

Mayor Fair swore in Sharon Daley as the newest member of the Village of Valley Stream Board of Trustees and led a public recognition of WinterFest sponsors and volunteers before the board moved into its regular meeting.

Daley took the oath of office after former mayor John De Grama introduced her. “I just wanna thank you. Thank you, Willie. The village and the boys for having some faith in me to do this job. I can't wait to serve the community of Valley Stream. I love Valley Stream, my hometown, lifelong resident, and I'm just camping to get to work,” Daley said after being sworn in.

The board used the pre-meeting time to recognize organizations and individuals who supported the village’s WinterFest events. Mayor Fair read a list of sponsors and volunteer contributors and asked representatives to come forward for citations and a group photograph. Named sponsors and representatives mentioned included North Star Auto Body (Anthony Capo), Lee Ann Anderson (physical therapy), the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce (Sasan), State Farm (Nicole), Elite Parking Systems, Wonderama, PCI Contract, Family Laundry, Valley Van (Ronnie Seager), Emergency Services Company (Lucy DiGiano), McDonald’s (Lauren Bridal), and Mark Hendel. Members of the WinterFest committee and volunteers—among them Jimmy Fotanza, Rich DeAngelis, Jay Hunter and artist Eugene Boning—were also acknowledged.

The oath administered invoked the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of New York and the ordinances, rules and regulations of the Village of Valley Stream.

After the ceremonial recognitions and the swearing-in, the board began its regular business and proceeded to agenda items and public comment.

Daley is the fourth named trustee referenced in the meeting’s remarks as serving on the village board; the mayor and others praised her community involvement and volunteer work as reasons for her selection.
