SRO contract set for renegotiation after officer declines continuation; village to post position

The village's contract to provide a school resource officer (SRO) will be renegotiated after the current officer, Officer Hanson, indicated he does not want to continue in the role next school year. Public Safety reported the board, village administrator and police chief met with school district representatives to define expectations and begin planning for a replacement.
Trustee Terry said the existing contract ends at the end of April; the chief and administrator will draft a list of expectations within about two weeks, post the position and interview candidates. Once a candidate is selected, the village expects to negotiate the fee with the school district for SRO services.
The Public Safety Committee did not provide a final fee or candidate at the meeting. Trustees said they expect to have a process completed in February and will update the board as negotiations proceed.
