Senate panel amends, votes to advance bill changing state health officer qualifications and advisory panel

Chair Lee called the Senate Human Services Committee to order and the panel voted to advance legislation that revises the qualifications and advisory structure for the state health officer.

The committee approved an amendment that requires ‘‘education and training or experience in public health and relevant leadership experience’’ as part of the candidate qualifications and then voted to pass the bill as amended. The amendment was seconded by Senator Van Oosten; the roll call recorded Aye votes from Senators Lee, Weston, Rohrs, Hogan, Van Oosten and Clemens. The motion to pass as amended carried on that roll call.
