The court voted to open a separate interest‑bearing account titled “Hardin County Courthouse Cafe” at First Financial Bank and to establish a change fund not to exceed $200 to permit cash sales. Commissioners approved a budget transfer of $10,000 from the general fund contingency to provide startup funding for payroll, food, supplies and equipment for the cafe.
The court also authorized the county judge to sign a merchant processing agreement with Shift4 to provide a point‑of‑sale system (the parties described a one‑time setup fee of under $200 and a recurring monthly processing fee around $48). County staff said the arrangement would be reviewed at 90 to 180 days after opening to assess expenses and revenue.
All motions on these items were approved by the commissioners court during the Jan. 28 meeting.
