Centerville schools report 43 departures, begin spring recruitment; name new athletic director and football coach

The staffing update showed 15 certificated and 28 classified departures to date, five internal transfers and active transfer requests through March 3. Administrators said they will meet principals next month to finalize building-level needs and that recruitment events begin March 4 at the University of Dayton and conclude with a candidate night on April 17.
The district introduced Brandon Hahn as the new athletic director (hired in November) and named John Puckett as the new head football coach. Puckett, an intervention specialist and 16-season member of the Centerville High School coaching staff, was selected from a field of about 20 applicants and was the only internal candidate; the administrators said his selection was unanimous.
Two elementary principals — Mindy Klein (Primary Village North) and Lisa Mays (John Hall Elementary) — are retiring, creating administrative vacancies. The district said it received 48 applicants for the two principal positions, interviewed 20, and narrowed each building’s field to four finalists; final interviews and community committee participation were scheduled in mid-February.
Human-resources staff said they are already posting initial spring openings and will keep the board apprised as finalists and hires are confirmed.
