Preschool construction near completion; administrators give timeline and site details

District facility staff provided the board with a progress update and photos on the new Clark County preschool construction, describing punch-list items, site logistics and a near-term schedule for final work.

Paul Christie, who led the update, said most classrooms are tiled and that the lakes-region corridor and many classroom finishes are complete. He reported the security vestibule and media center installations in place and noted the multipurpose/cafeteria serving line and kitchen equipment are being wired and readied for final installation. Christie said the water is connected across the building and crews were running hot-water checks.

Christie described exterior site work: concrete pours scheduled (weather-permitting), parent and bus loop paving, playground foundations excavated and an upcoming pour. He said the contractors planned to stage furniture deliveries next week and that the contractor had removed the site trailer and planned to reinstall a perimeter fence as trade crews finish work. He also said exterior rubber playground surfacing requires several consecutive days of at least 50 degrees to be installed properly, so that item may be delayed by weather.

Christie said storm-shelter doors and their closures had been adjusted to sit within a few inches of walls (a prior installation had left doors projecting into circulation space), and he described progress on the multipurpose room tile and storage areas. He said exterior signage and an electronic monument board are complete and ready to be mounted.

Christie estimated that once trade equipment is staged out of main circulation areas the interior will appear much more finished; he asked the board to expect a final walk-through meeting scheduled with the construction team in the week ahead.

No board action was required; the presentation was an informational update summarizing punch-list items, furniture delivery timing and remaining exterior work.
