Delhi Township Trustees approve promotion, accept resignations and hire five part‑time firefighters

The Delhi Township Trustees on Jan. 28 approved a personnel slate for the Delhi Township Fire Department that included promoting a lieutenant to career firefighter EMT, accepting two part‑time resignations and hiring five part‑time firefighters.
Chief Campbell said the board approved promotion of Bridget D. Nagle to career firefighter EMT, effective Feb. 19, 2025, under the collective bargaining agreement with the Delhi Firefighters Association (local 3389). Trustees voted to accept the voluntary resignations of part‑time firefighter‑paramedic Alexander Joliewski (effective Jan. 20, 2025) and part‑time firefighter EMT Dawson R. Rice (effective Feb. 2, 2025). The board then approved hiring Christian A. Edwards, Nolan A. Berwinkle, Jace W. Stevens, Marissa L. Combs and Will R. Pisani as part‑time firefighter EMTs or EMTs, each contingent on required pre‑employment checks stated in the motions (physical, drug testing and, where specified, a voice stress or other screening).
Chief Campbell told trustees that Nagle is a lifelong Delhi resident who joined the department a little over a year ago and that the hires bring the department to a total staff of 61 personnel. He said the department had 43 personnel in June 2023 and has increased staffing through recruitment and retention efforts.
The chief also said the department will restart a Citizens Fire Academy, an eight‑week program planned to begin in March, running Tuesday evenings 6:30–9 p.m. at the fire station. The program will be open to applicants 18 and older; Chief Campbell said applications will be posted on the township website and the department’s Facebook page.
The motions to promote, accept resignations and approve hirings were made and seconded on the public record and approved by the trustees.
Trustees and the chief recognized the new hires and the promoted firefighter and thanked them for choosing to remain with the township.
