Deputy Recreation Director Amy Jean Baptiste told the board the title sponsor under discussion, Core Construction Services of Florida, had proposed to pay 25% of the event budget; Baptiste said that amount equaled $9,350. She also said Anchor Mechanical offered to sponsor a hospitality tent for $1,000. “So that’s currently $9,350. So that's 25% of, of that event budget,” Baptiste said.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to approve both potential sponsors for the March parade. The motion passed on a roll call vote; members present voted in favor.
Baptiste said the parade, scheduled for March 8, had attracted past crowds estimated in the low five figures and that sponsorship funds would be used to enhance the event. She described a process in which legal staff draft sponsorship agreements and the board reviews potential sponsorships procedurally before the city commission considers a budget amendment.
The board’s action at this meeting was procedural approval so staff could advance a sponsorship agreement to the commission for formal budgeting and contract approval. Baptiste and legal staff said the department would circulate the draft agreements and related documents to the board and to commission staff ahead of the commission agenda item.
