Senate welcomes Longmeadow cross country state champions to the chamber

Senator Alvaro, speaking from the Senate floor, said the Lancers “advanced very quickly throughout the fall and led their division throughout it in Western Massachusetts, and ultimately won the state championship in November of 2024.” He told the chamber that nearly 53 athletes were present and that they had visited the House chamber earlier.
State Representative Brian Nash joined the senator in welcoming the team, which the senator described as bringing “this first ever title to the State House.” The remarks took place during a routine opening of the session before the Senate took other actions.
No formal vote or legislative action accompanied the recognition; the visit was ceremonial and limited to remarks and a welcome.
