Judiciary committee approves technical amendment and due-pass for nursing reimbursement bill

Committee members reconsidered earlier committee action on Senate Bill 2209 to correct language in an amendment and moved the bill forward with the corrected amendment.

Chair Larson explained that an amendment previously circulated used the word "grant" on page 2 but that the intent and corrected text is reimbursement for nursing services rather than a grant. Committee members discussed the correct amendment, which Senator Merdahl (moved amendment number 25.09290.01004) presented as a technical fix. The chairman and sponsors said the bill includes a $200,000 appropriation and that the bill should be reassigned to the Appropriations Committee because of that funding.

After a motion to reconsider, the committee voted on the revised amendment and later voted to move SB 2209 as a due pass as amended. The motion to move the bill as amended was made by Sen. Lueck and seconded by Sen. Meirdall. A roll call recorded recorded ayes from multiple senators and Chair Larson noted the motion carried. The committee will forward the amended bill and the appropriation to Appropriations for further consideration.
