Treasurer outlines statewide 605 Drive rollout; expect vehicle-registration outages Feb. 13–17

Carol said the state will take county motor-vehicle systems down on Thursday, Feb. 13; online renewal services and the self-service terminal at Hy-Vee will go offline the same day and remain down through Tuesday, Feb. 17 while the state migrates records. County offices are expected to test the new system and run end-of-day reports on Monday, Feb. 17 (the transcript reflects an intention to test on the holiday weekend). The treasurer said the new system is expected to be faster and built on a third-party vendor platform already used in other states, but staff will face a learning curve.
Why it matters: vehicle-registration customers will be unable to complete online renewals or use the public kiosk during the outage window; in-person services at the county may be limited around the cutover.
