Starpoint students detail Lock In to Lock Out Cancer fundraiser, report $163,000 raised for Roswell Park since 2013

Student members of the Lock In to Lock Out Cancer club described their annual fundraiser and recent accomplishments during the Feb. 11 Starpoint Central School District board meeting.
The club’s presentation matters because student-led fundraising supports Roswell Park patient services and research and involves a large number of high school volunteers whose work engages the school and broader community.
A student presenter said the club currently has about 100 active members who meet biweekly from October to March and that since the first Lock In event in 2013 the group has raised just over $163,000 for Roswell Park. The presentation listed activities and recent accomplishments: a summer visit to the Roswell campus where the club presented a $17,000 check, collection of comfort bags for chemotherapy patients, bubble-tea sales that raised $900, and participation as volunteers at local pediatric cancer events.
The club’s 2025 Lock In event is scheduled for Friday, March 14, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Students described evening activities including games, inflatables (inflatable, foam “axe” throwing), a bungee run, photo booths, tournaments and prize giveaways. The presentation named several sponsors, with three listed as top supporters on the slide: CPH, Funny Bunch and Dansworth.
Student leaders identified the club cabinet in remarks: Jordan Duncan (senior chairwoman), Caitlin Denny (vice president), Madison Harris (treasurer), Allie Manns (secretary), Lana Strohlein (social media operator) and Miss Haskell (club advisor/administrator). The club asked the board to note the event and thanked staff members who assist with logistics and sponsorship outreach.
Several board members praised the students’ organization and fundraising impact during board discussion after the presentation; trustees noted the funds support patient care and research at Roswell Park and thanked the students, sponsors and staff.
