Council received and approved the city’s December 2024 financial report and approved payment of a claim from Intralinks for $18,307.54 after a brief discussion and a recusal declared by one council member.
Finance Director Link Zier reviewed cash changes through December, noting a year‑to‑date negative in some funds that reflects normal early‑year timing and transfers (for example, a cemetery perpetual care transfer of $175,000 that occurs twice yearly). He said the monthly change in cash at the bottom of the report was a positive $951,000 and described overall reserves as adequate: “we're sitting pretty, overall,” Zier said.
Zier reported a recent sales tax receipt reflecting the month of November was up about 20% compared with the same reporting period last fiscal year. “We were up 20% compared to last fiscal year,” he said, and noted that collections typically show larger receipts in subsequent months when property taxes are distributed.
Zier also briefed the council on the upcoming audit: Bergen KDB (a firm identified in the packet) will perform fieldwork next week as part of a transition to a new auditor. Zier said staff is targeting March 17 for the final audit report and described coordination with staff (including the finance office and auditors) as underway.
Separately, the council considered and approved a claim from Intralinks in the amount of $18,307.54; one council member declared a conflict before the vote. Motions to approve the consent items and the claim carried, and the council later voted to accept the December financial report.
The approvals recorded on the consent and fiscal items will allow staff to proceed with routine financial management and the scheduled audit work by Bergen KDB.
