Shorewood Plan Commission approves 2024 Land Commission annual report; minutes approved

The Shorewood Plan Commission on Feb. 3 approved its 2024 Land Commission annual report and voted to approve the previous meeting’s minutes.

The annual report, which the commission reviewed at the meeting and is included in the meeting packet, recorded that the Land Commission convened four meetings in 2024 and took several actions, including review and approval of a parking special exception to allow an outdoor patio at 4044 North Oakland Avenue, a recommendation to the Village Board to permit office uses in the MX commercial district under limited circumstances, and a recommendation that the Village Board update the village’s floodplain regulations to match a draft prepared by the Department of Natural Resources as required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“ We had a pretty, light calendar last year, just based on my availability to do other things and then also in recognition of the adoption of the commercial zoning code which did remove a lot of the more, minor conditional use permits,” Planning staff said during the meeting.

The commission also approved the previous meeting’s minutes. Planning staff moved to approve the minutes; the commission’s roll call resulted in four votes in favor and one abstention by Commission member Caitlin Post, who said she abstained because she had not attended the prior meeting. The motion to approve the annual report was made and carried; no detailed roll-call tally for that vote was recorded in the transcript.

The report and minutes will be part of the commission’s record and are slated to be submitted to the Village Board as part of the commission’s annual process.
