Board approves routine agenda, minutes, finance, personnel, facilities and education items

The Saucon Valley School District Board of Directors approved a series of routine and project motions on Jan. 28, voting by voice on agenda items, minutes and multiple consent items.

The board called the roll (eight members present) and approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from January. The board approved presentations of bills and the treasurer's report by voice vote. In education, the board approved three items (Class of 2025 graduation, early graduation and Saucon Valley Foundation mini-grants) and pulled the first reading of policies for separate consideration; Policy 103 was later advanced on first reading (see separate report).

On personnel, the board approved five personnel items including a long-term substitute, resignations and after-school ACE program staffing; the board thanked the staff member who accepted the ACE program role. In facilities, members approved declaring surplus/obsolete items and discussed options for redistribution or disposal; the superintendent said items are moved to the district warehouse and the district is exploring options for re‑use or sale.

In finance, the board approved a middle-school boiler tube replacement. Board members noted the cost was significantly lower than earlier committee estimates (committee earlier noted an $81,000 figure for a full replacement), and staff reported the current action replaces tubes inside the boiler, reducing cost relative to a full replacement.
