Sarpy County lowers speed limit on Capehart Frontage Road to 25 mph

The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution to reduce the posted speed limit on a remnant of Capehart Frontage Road from 50 miles per hour to 25 mph and to place appropriate signage.
Zach, a senior public works engineer, told the board the frontage road was left after the realignment of Capehart Road and now functions as a short neighborhood connector between 72nd Street and 60th Street; GIS maps for some delivery drivers still showed a 50 mph designation. Commissioners confirmed the change would not create an abrupt 50-to-25 mph transition on a through highway because the frontage road connects to 68th Avenue and covers a short distance.
Commissioner Kelly moved approval and Commissioner Burmeister seconded. The board recorded the vote as “ayes 5, nays none.”
