The Jones County Board of Appeals and Adjustments approved a variance allowing a second dwelling on a single lot at 187 Camelot Road.
The applicant, Lucy Stevens, told the board her daughter and the daughter’s family will move into Stevens’s existing house and Stevens wants to build a small house on the same 10-acre property so she can remain on site. The property is zoned R1 (single-family residential) and the county’s road-frontage rule requires 60 feet; Stevens requested an exception because the lot has less than 60 feet of road frontage.
A neighbor, Rusty Gardner of 189 Camelot Road, spoke in support, saying Stevens’s property borders his on two sides and he favored the proposal so Stevens could remain on the property. After public comment, a board member moved to approve the variance; another board member seconded. The board approved the request by voice vote.
No conditions, specific limitations or vote counts were recorded in the meeting transcript.
